The big news story this week is how Mel Gibson got pulled over for speeding. Turned out he was also drunk. While he was in police custody he made some Anti-Semitic comments. Something along the line of ‘Jew’s being responsible for all the wars’
Was the news story about him doing double the speed limit in a residential area? Nope
Was the news story focused on drunk driving? No. Guess again.
The big news was that Mel Gibson has a problem with the Jews.
*GASP* Mel Gibson doesn’t like Jews?? Really?! Your talking about the guy who made ‘Passion of the Christ’, That Mel Gibson? Your kidding me, right? Is that enough sarcasm? I hope so.
Fox news chose to go with this angle hoping that if they ran it 10 times an hour. Over the next week they might reach the ONE person out there who didn’t already know that. To be fair it isn’t just fox. CNN, the BBC,and the others are running it too. But for Christ sake… oh, sorry.
They are calling for Mel Gibson to be boycotted. They are saying his career, Is or should be, Over. Being Anti-Semitic is wrong and he should have to pay for it. That bastard, why not just crucify him… oops, sorry again.
Honestly I couldn’t care less. For one, he’s an actor. Who really gives a fuck what an actor thinks? Did we not learn anything from ‘Team America’?
Two, The only thing that matters less then the opinion of an actor is the opinion of anyone on any news station. What ever happened to just reporting the news? Tell us the facts and then shut the fuck up. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, they are full of shit and it stinks just as much everyone else’s, so why the fuck do people listen to them like it’s gospel…shit, sorry yet again.
Mel made a comment. So what if he’s Anti-Semitic. The problem I have is that the everyone, at some point in time, has said or done something considered by others t be bias to another race, religion, sex, sexual preference, etc. etc. It’s human nature. Tell me you’ve never acted that way and I’ll confirm that you are a lying bag of douche.
For one reason or another these things are embedded into us as children or maybe it was some experience in life. It’s there, nothing you can really do about it. What matters is whether or not you can identify those thoughts and realize that they do no good. Therefore most of us keep those things to ourselves. Every now and then, they might come to the surface and piss off a person or 2 billion.
The truth is it’s all pretty fucking stupid to get offended. If someone doesn’t like me, but has never theatend me or has never done anything to harm me, then do I have a reason to give a fuck, or even acknowledge them? No, people.
This was where Chappelle did some great things for race relations. He pointed out the stupidity of getting offended. He used racial slurs so much they effectively lost it’s meaning and subsequently were used less. He deserves more credit for that, but instead: “I’m Rick James, Bitch!”, is what people remember.

Who knows, maybe he really is sorry for making such a comment, but than again maybe he is just kissing butt.
