Wow. That was pretty intense. Something similar happened to me when I was in college. My friends and I were walking in the streets and I wasn't really looking where I was going. I got of the sidewalk and stepped on the road only to have someone yank me back. I turned around and was ready to yell something like "what's the big idea." only to find that my friend who was supposed to be behind me was still several feet away from me. I faced front again (this all happened in a few seconds) and suddenly this vehicle whooshed in front of my face barely missing me. My friends yelled at me and I got goosebumps all over. I asked if anyone passed behind me to pull at me but no one did. I didn't make a big deal of it but I never forgot it either. And like you I remember it and feel protected when I do.
